“Nick is a great architect and we have worked together on multiple jobs. His plans are always thorough and complete. His ideas are new and innovative and he is available for communication throughout the build.” – Justin Tucker
The new home can now comfortably house the family of five, each having their own room, multiple bathrooms, a dedicated finished basement play space, and open concept living throughout the first floor. The backyard is also more functional and accessible from both the first and second floors. Along with the kitchen, the new 4-season sunroom is the statement piece of the project. A large custom skylight floods the space with natural light, while the many windows provide great views of the freshly landscaped backyard. The existing 1,500 square foot bungalow doubled in square footage and transformed into the homeowner's paradise.
Phase 1 of this 1930s retrofit included a full second story addition to expand the primary bedroom into a suite with a private bathroom and closets, as well as a renovated childrens bathroom and new staircase from the finished basement up to the new second level. Zoning and historic approval was obtained from the town after the first hearing. Phase 2 of the project included a rear 2-story addition with a new kitchen, breakfast nook, powder room and expanded living and dining room on the first floor, and a sunroom, nursery and jack & jill bathroom on the upper floor. The challenge was to remove enough ledge in the backyard to allow for the addition to have windows bring in natural light to the lower level, while also being accessible from the upper level.
